For the SDPD to initiate the abatement process for an inoperable vehicle, the vehicle must be visible from the street or alley. The legal process to remove a vehicle may take up to three months. If the owner cannot demonstrate that the vehicle is operational, the vehicle is removed and destroyed at no cost to the owner.
Special note: If more than one inoperable vehicle is located at a particular location, report only one vehicle. The additional vehicles will be documented during an inspection of the property.
