The San Diego Junior Lifeguard Program offers youth an opportunity to learn from professional lifeguards. Students gain a wide variety of skills and knowledge including how to enjoy the beach safely, ocean and wave education, area familiarity, first aid and CPR, water rescue techniques, the importance of keeping physically fit, and other topics related to lifeguarding. This valuable experience builds self confidence and helps students prepare for future employment as Beach Lifeguards.

2009 Registration Information
Session 1: Wednesday June 17, 2009 to Tuesday July 14, 2009.
Session 2: Monday, July 20, 2009 to Friday August 14, 2009.
Online registration will begin April 1, 2009. We anticipate selling all spaces in less than one day. Please check our website this winter for more updated information.
Tryouts for 2009 will be held on May 2, 9, and 16, June 6 and 27, and July 11 from 9-12 p.m., location TBA.
Intern tryouts for 2009 will be held on April 14, 16, 21, and 23 at 5 p.m.
Intern interviews for 2009 will take place on April 18 and 25.
Intern orientation and training will be held May 5 and June 14, respectively. These meetings are mandatory.
