Fire Company Inspection Program
The Fire Company Inspection Program (FCIP) is the backbone of fire prevention in the city. The majority of inspections performed in the city are done by the engine and truck company personnel. Annual InspectionsAnnual inspections performed yearly include public assemblies (places where more than 49 people gather), schools, day-care facilities, residential care facilities, multiple-unit residential buildings, nursing homes and other institutional facilities. State law requires an annual inspection of multiple-unit residential buildings and of schools. See the photo gallery of FCIP. FCIP Area AdvisorThe FCIP Area Advisor is responsible for overseeing the engine and truck company inspections. The Advisor is the liaison between the fire company and the customer when the customer has a question or needs help in arranging an inspection time. The Advisor for a particular area may be accessed through (619) 533-4400. Quick Reference GuideThe Quick Reference Guide (PDF: 67K) is a check-off list to use to maintain a building in a safe condition. It covers the most common violations. These guidelines apply to places of public assembly (Assembly occupancy), schools and nonresidential day-care (Educational occupancy), nursing homes, hospitals and other institutional facilities (Institutional occupancy) and multi-unit residential buildings (Residential occupancy). |
