How to Purchase

A variety of specialized garden products are now available including compost, mulch and wood chips; a mix of wood chips and mulch; and bagged compost. Please call the Miramar Landfill at 858-492-6100 to confirm availability on a particular day.

Mulch is available to the public at no charge. Up to two cubic yards of compost is free to City residents who load it themselves. Compost loaded by Greenery staff and wood chips can be purchased at the Miramar Landfill fee booth located at the landfill's entrance. Both compost and wood chips products are priced by the cubic yard and include sales tax. One cubic yard is equal to the size of six 32-gallon trash cans. Also, large vehicles of three axles or larger are charged a $50 loading fee at the fee booth for mulch.

Bagged Compost
Bagged compost is only available for purchase at the Miramar Recycling Center.

How to Pick Up Compost, Mulch and Wood Chips

Customers can pick up materials at the Miramar Greenery after showing their receipt. Those who paid for compost or wood chips will have their vehicle loaded by one of the Greenery equipment operators. Those who hand load mulch or compost need to provide their own tools such as a shovel, container and tarp. All vehicles must have their loads covered. It is advised to bring and wear a dust mask while loading and spreading the material.

All materials are available on a first come, first served basis. Supplies are limited. Call the Miramar Landfill at 858-492-6100 to confirm availability and for additional information about restrictions.

Miramar Greenery

The Miramar Greenery is located inside the City's Miramar Landfill, located north of Highway 52 at 5180 Convoy Street.

Monday - Friday: 7 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Saturdays, Sundays and most holidays: 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

The Landfill is closed on New Year's Day, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.
