The Commission for Arts and Culture responds to the needs of the field by providing services and developing special initiative solutions for the evolving arts and culture community. For example, the Commission:

• Co-founded the San Diego Arts Education Partnership with the San Diego Unified School District and the California Arts Council to ensure that students in San Diego's schools receive an education in the arts.
• Promotes work from unique artistic communities including folk and traditional artists.
